The Kaya Pain & Function Program

A structured program for adults who want to stay strong, mobile, and clear-headed without surgery or medication-first approaches.

WHO IT’S FOR

A Program for Adults Managing Real Pain

If you are managing arthritis, persistent joint pain, or declining mobility — and you want a careful, physician-led plan that respects your time and intelligence — this program was designed with your situation in mind.

This program is built for adults who:

  • Have chronic knee, hip, shoulder, or spine pain that has not fully responded to basic care

  • Are experiencing reduced mobility, balance, or strength that is affecting daily activities

  • Want to avoid or delay surgery and are looking for a medically supervised alternative

  • Have tried physical therapy or over-the-counter treatments without satisfactory results

  • Want to understand their condition fully — not just manage it with medication

  • Are motivated to participate in their own care and willing to engage with a structured plan

PROGRAM OPTIONS

Most patients begin with the 3-Month Start. It is the right entry point — enough time to make real progress and evaluate fit before a longer commitment.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Pain & Function Program is designed for adults — typically 55 and older — who are managing chronic joint pain, arthritis, persistent stiffness, limited mobility, or general physical decline that is getting in the way of daily life. It is for people who want a physician-led plan, not just another appointment.

  • Patients who need urgent surgical evaluation, patients in acute crisis, and patients whose primary need is opioid pain management are not the right fit for this program. Dr. Lazaro will be honest about this at the consultation if Kaya is not the right match.

  • Chronic joint pain (knee, hip, shoulder, spine), arthritis, persistent musculoskeletal pain, declining strength and mobility, post-injury function, and age-related physical decline. Treatment decisions are individualized and made at the time of evaluation.

  • You will spend dedicated time with Dr. Lazaro reviewing your health history, pain patterns, and function goals. She will conduct a physical assessment, review any relevant imaging, explain what she believes is happening, and outline your options — including whether the Pain & Function Program is right for you. It is a thorough evaluation, not a sales call.

  • Kaya is a cash-pay practice — we do not bill insurance. All fees are paid directly at the time of service. Pricing is transparent and quoted in advance. Some patients use HSA or FSA funds for their program fees; we can provide documentation to support that.

  • EA, a Mayo Clinic-trained Health and Wellness Coach, provides structured check-ins between your physician visits. Coaching covers the behavioral and lifestyle factors that affect pain and function — movement, sleep, nutrition, stress. It makes the physician's plan actionable in daily life.

  • At the end of the 3-Month Start, you and Dr. Lazaro will review your progress and discuss next steps. Some patients continue with a 3-Month Extension ($1,500). Others have achieved their goals and graduate. The conversation is honest and based on your actual progress — not an automatic renewal.
